Getting Inside the Land of Peace: Ghana

African countries offer major destinations over the globe for tourists. Ghana becomes the center of attention for a lot of people worldwide, who plan on traveling to Africa. It is not just a place where you can find indigenous culture, in fact people report of an experience across culture. The world’s most beautiful places are said to exist in a land covered in vast expanse of the rich African savannas, not to deny the breath taking beauty of Ghana beaches. This perhaps cannot be a bad idea to spend your holiday.

Among African countries, Ghana is unique. It’s a beautiful country revered for its scenic views and wonderment that certainly catches attention at first glance. Against the innate beauty of Mother Nature, the bizarre look. It’s breathtaking.

Important:

You won’t be given visa on arrival; it’d be great if you get a visa in advance. It’s important to get the malaria course done and yellow fever vaccination certificate before entering Ghana.

By Air:

Kotoka International Airport is the main airport in Accra, the capital city of Ghana. It handles all domestic as well as international flights to and from the airport.

United Airlines:

By June of 2010, these airlines will operate cheap flights to Accra from Washington Dulles.

Ghana International Airlines:

Flights from Accra to London and Düsseldorf are served by Ghana International Airlines. This airline flies from Accra to London 4 times and one can visit Düsseldorf from Accra on Saturdays.

Delta Airlines:

Delta Airlines flies from New York to Accra with four flights per week.

The Royal Dutch airline flies from Schiphol, Amsterdam to Accra very swiftly and flights from Frankfurt and Milan are served by Lufhansa and Alitalia. Flights from London Heathrow to Accra are operated by British Airways whereas flights from London Gatwick are functioned by Ghana International Airlines and Astraeus. Delta Airlines offers flights to many other cities of Africa. It is offering cheap flights to Capetown, Cairo, Lagos etc. There are many other airlines that are operating both direct/indirect flights to Accra, these include; Egypt Air, South African Airways and Angola Airlines.

By Car:

You can get in by car from the border at Alfao with Togo. Be careful while driving around as pedestrians are found on the roads very often. You can pass through the border without doing a lot but form filling and visa verification might take some time. Make sure that your documents are in order as for that you will not have to bribe the soldiers on Togo side. On the other hand, entering the country through Cote d’Ivoire at Elubo is not that time consuming.

By Bus:

Metro Mass Company is the national bus company in Ghana. You can visit anywhere within Ghana as well as nearby countries easily as the STC offers a large scale of buses. You can travel from Tamale to Accra by boat that would cost just GH¢20.
